The 73rd New England Folk Festival, (NEFFA for short), April 21-23 in Mansfield, MA, “blends dance, music, crafts, and food from many places and cultures.” NEFFA is probably best known for excellent contradancing, but also includes other great programming. At past NEFFAs, I’ve given my “Marxophone & Beyond” presentation, a show-and-tell featuring 20+ fretless zithers and their history. It’s been great fun but a not inconsiderable logistical challenge, with time constraints allowing for very little actual music-making. This year I’ll be sharing fewer instruments but much more music in a “Marxophone & More” concert, Sunday, April 23, 1 PM, on the Middle School Auditorium Stage. I’ll bring my Marxophone, violin-guitar, dolceola, harpeleik, Phonoharp No. 1, plus just a few more. (No promises, but the whimsical Harp-O-Chord, with it’s three chords and a harmonica slot is a possibility.)
I’ll also be part of the group Louise Brill & Friends presenting “Rounds Lovely & Lively”, Saturday, April 22, 7 PM, in High School Room 123. It would be a pleasure and a privilege to see you at either or both!
