In my performances, I always take a few moments to introduce any of my instruments which may be unfamiliar to the audience. I also offer educational Marxophone & Beyond presentations about fretless zithers, expanding upon their history, mechanics, and design diversity. More of an interactive show-and-tell than a concert, yet liberally sprinkled with music, these presentations feature a much larger portion of my collection, as well as vintage instruction books, numbered music, ads, and patents. I’m currently working on a PowerPoint presentation to enhance this work.
I’ve given such presentations at the New England Folk Festival, the New York Pinewoods Folk Club, and the Music Appreciation Group of the Teesdale U3A. Might your group enjoy learning more about the whimsical world of vintage fretless zithers? Please be in touch!
