Inspired by this summer’s programming at the Parsonsfield-Porter Historical Society, focused on the 100th anniversary of Maine’s ratification of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, which granted women the vote, I’m excited to be working on learning historical songs of women’s suffrage. I look forward to performing some of this music at the annual Old Porter Meetinghouse open house on Sept. 1, 1-3 PM, at the corner of Old Meetinghouse Road and Colcord Pond Road in Porter, Maine. I hope to continue to share this heritage of song at other events, possibly in conjunction with the Maine Suffrage Centennial, celebrating the 2020 centennial of women’s suffrage.
