I’ve happily rejoined my true love David Wallace-Lawrence in the town of Barnard Castle in the North East of England.
Since my return, I’ve resumed bellringing in my home tower of St. Mary’s Church with its eight bells and am enjoying visiting other towers in the area. A subgroup of our local band of also rings handbells, both change ringing and tunes, and I’m delighted to be taking part.
I’ve also reconnected with the Music and Memories sessions led by Mike Bettison with his ukulele and melodeon. This program brings people living with dementia, their carers, and community members together to sing.
Also, I’m loving playing my Maestro Classic 15+15 hammered dulcimer built by Tim Manning of Music Magic. David gave me this fine instrument last year for my 70th birthday. I plan to do some busking with it here in Barney.
I intend to continue my research into how the phenomenon of fretless zithers has manifested here in Britain, and to expand this website to include that information.
